The Unbound Witch by Miranda Lyn
1.0
My first ever DNF.
The review:
As soon as I saw this book available on kindle unlimited, I jumped right into it because the last one left off on such a cliffhanger that I wanted to know what would happen next.
In the beginning, we are thrust into the human world with Grey, Raven, and Kirsi as a wraith. The mood sucks for obvious reasons. The plot at this point felt really one dimensional to me. Very predictable; it lacked depth. The characters were all in a place where their actions and emotions were driven by outside circumstances.
Everyone knew Grey and Bastian were one and the same. This was revealed in a really cliche way and didn’t really add to the plot at all. At least, it didn’t feel like it was properly executed in a way that created angst for the two MCs.
The story just feels rushed and overly complicated. By 20% of the book, I’ve been introduced to way too many new characters and I couldn’t even keep up with the characters from the first book. They’re written in like I’m supposed to be familiar with them but I have no idea who they are.
I forced myself past 60% when I finally realized I’ve been avoiding reading (one of my favorite pastimes) because I just couldn’t stand this book. I literally could not care less about what happens next.
