I can’t believe it took me so long to get to this book. This lovely novella-esque story is Lyons’s first self-published work—since the publishing company decided not to continue the series, which I assure you is a literary travesty. She has created a unique world about witches and the protectors being gravely cursed for a mistake in the past. Not only do which is now fear there once protectors who have gone nearly insane with bloodlust for their blood, but both witches and protectors have had their souls halved — only being released from the curse upon finding their other half.

Let me start this by saying I have practically fallen for each and every one of the Wings Slayer Hunters. And my beloved Ram is no different. I was actually surprised at how damaged he was. He didn’t seem that way in previous books, so when we got his back story, I was rather taken off guard. It made his character harder and better, giving him that aspect of determination. It gave all of his actions and reactions much more impact. He was the perfect alpha male. In one scene in particular between him and Ginny was so hot— just what she forced him (in a good way) to do— I swear it ratcheted their relationship up to new fantastic heights. Overall he was another amazing Wings Slayer Hunter, and yes, he has joined the others that hold a place in my heart.

Ginny was just great. She was strong. Capable. Very caring. Despite the ship whole situation she is trapped in—her brother Elijah coming along for the ride should she messed up— she is perfect. Her feelings are genuine and well thought out. She does what she has to to protect herself and her brother. She is even willing to settle when she wants so much more. She put others first and always wants to help. So when she’s forced to go down the path she has tried so hard to avoid, things between her and ram explode in the best of ways. It forces to people who are perfect for each other to take things further and care in a way that is not only passionate and deep, but simply stated to be.

I really wish the series hadn’t been discontinued. The first book in the series is what got me hooked on the romance genre. To see a gets stifled so soon hurts my romance junkie heart. I really hope line continues to self-publish the series. It truly is a great series, and I would recommend it to any paranormal romance fan.
