Ninth House
by Leigh Bardugo
this was so great. i don't know why it took me so long to finish though
--------------------------------
i read this at the perfect time with the sequel coming out within the month! everyone say "icon behavior" please. anyways i think ninth house was definitely different than what i expected. I really enjoyed how we went back and forth with the spring semester and the fall.
darlington. i can't lie, im still a bit underwelmed on why he's missing. i understand he's an "other side" of sorts but getting to know a character through flashbacks is hit or miss for me. especially when we know that he's going to come back to the real world. i just missed him. he was an interesting contrast to alex and liked the fall sections significantly more than the present. which that shouldn't be the case because the present has the whole murder mystery but ya know.
alex. i'm kind of mixed of reading the book from her perspective. i think she was fine at the end of the day but i don't think she was my favorite. she had a tough life so i did like all the background we got on her. also, idk if this contributed but all the yale world building was too much for me. maybe it's because i've never been to yale but it's just hard for me to visualize all these real places. like i had an image of yale's campus in my head but it's probably real bad.
the part where the guy atemade me hurl. like good thing i hadn't ate in a while.
the ending was good. i think with the dean and belbalm killing the girls, granted dean only killed tara and belbalm the others was explained in an interesting way. im sorry but after belbalm killed the dean she said, " Did he really deserve better? Men die, Alexandra. It's rarely a tragedy." like so true. anyways great book. my thoughts don't do it justice.
