“It was a sweeping story of love and loss, life and death, and, above all, redemption. It was the story of a grand passion that had endured for over forty years and finally found its happy ending.”

This was a lovely, sweet read which follows two different narratives, peppered with short stories throughout. This sounds complicated, but it was a really easy read!

The chapters were pretty short, which I really like. The short stories throughout about the different objects broke up the book, and it was a really nice experience getting to read multiple stories in one.

Somehow, most of the stories interlink which I really loved, it tied a lot of things together and I loved the sentimentality of it.

This book looks at death, life and dementia. Although these monuments were sad because I had become attached to these characters, it was written in a really beautiful, joyful way.

This book also sensitively looked at disability, abuse and mental illness briefly, but enough to leave a lasting effect on me.

With the addition of romance and a ghost story, this book offers something for every reader!

I would love to read a book just filled with the objects short stories, or Anthony’s versions!

There was nothing more satisfying than the ending of this sweet read. I cannot wait to read more of Ruth’s work, this is definitely one of my favourites.
