No Escape: Part One of the Mercenaries for Hire Duet by Jillian West, Jillian West
3.0
If you love Omegaverse, Jillian West is like the special chocolate you save to eat by yourself, late at night. Rich, comforting, indulgent and delicious. This book was no different - solid omegaverse read with all the hallmark of characteristics, tropes (heat, knotting, scent matches etc). Please be warned - it does end on a very strenuous cliffhanger, but the second book is due May 29th, so I don't have put up with this torture for too long.
I loved the MCs.
Jillian writes some very diverse alphas - but I think she's outdone herself here. So we chance upon Valor and Omen in the prison facility for rabid alphas. They bonded to each other but not in a relationship; it's a novel concept of bonding each other because they care for each other as people and brothers - and so want to stay connected. Omen was especially interesting because he's got all these hang ups of being a beta, considering himself inferior to alphas - but he's a stand up character with so much loyalty and love to give. Not to mention self-sacrificing for all the people he loves. He's an intriguing one and I'm looking forward to reading more about him. The other 2 alphas - Shaw and Leo - early days, they seem like stand up guys but they've just entered the scene so the night is young.
Waiting for Book 2 with baited breath....
