This book is refreshingly funny and so much fun to read. I really liked Justine and Garrett, her especially. Justine is a force to be reckoned with in this small town. She’s hilariously blunt and never holds back but even her many quirks are loveable. I was suspicious of Garrett at first, but quickly warmed up to him because he’s absolutely charming. It’s also important to note that their story has an outstanding cast of secondary characters who bring so much to the story.
The heat and tension between these two is off the charts as Justine fights the developers, which includes Garrett. They’re not wanted in town so the residents of Polson Falls make it abundantly clear and Justine is practically leading the charge. Despite their differences, Garrett’s captivated by this woman and wants more Justine. She quickly falls for him as well but her ex betrayed her in the worst way and she’s still getting over it. Unfortunately for her, since their parents are best friends and the ex is also her brother’s BFF, she can’t avoid him or his new girl, who also cheated with him.
The story ends very abruptly so I would have liked more of a wrap-up at the end. There’s an epilogue a year into the future, which is great, but it doesn’t give us much detail about their lives. This was my first book by the author but won’t be the last.
