Ray Friesen's adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Small Gods into a graphic novel format is vibrant and full of character. It maintains much of the wit and all of the heart of the original, though out of necessity sacrifices some of the detail. The subplot involving Simony and Um's Machine of War is largely sacrificed, and it made me wonder whether someone who hadn't read the novel would be able to understand how what was left fit into the main plot. But overall it was a very fun read.
