Pyramids by Terry Pratchett
4.0

It’s the first of the Discworld books that I don’t read in French and it feels good to finally have a taste at Terry Pratchett’s actual writing style (mind you, the French translator did a fantastic job and I have a newfound respect for him, but I couldn’t bear to read another “anyway” being translated by “quelque chemin” or some close absurdity). In Pyramids, Pratchett brings the concept of “science fiction” to a whole new level and it is hilarious. I crylaughed at the part with the sphynx, it was just too good. I also was pleased to see a bit of Death, who will, I think, be my favorite character of this series until the end (ha ha).
