Happening by Annie Ernaux

This manages to be both weirdly emotionless and harrowing at the same time, and that seems to be what the situation calls for. (It’s the true story of the author trying to get an abortion in 1963.) This is a quick read that begs to be reread but maybe not until it stops echoing. Really well done.
