Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
2.0
I don't typically write reviews for books I've DNFed, but this one was particularly bad enough that I needed to get my thoughts out. I've been trying to read more absurdism and this seemed interesting! Funny, even! The blurb on the back was intriguing and the first page was in a style I really liked. I shouldn't be surprised that a book from the 80s featured rampant objectification of women (including underaged women) and racist undertones, but it was uncomfortable. And I know people will try and say that's the "point", but there are authors who can make The Point without writing about women as if they're either sexual objects or gross lesbians. Not taking comedic book suggestions from old men anymore and definitely not spending $18 on those suggestions.
