The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

Along came this story and curdled up right against my side asking to be cuddled with, asking to be seen and asking to be loved. I answered, and now this special read has burrowed itself into my heart and I won’t soon forget it.

We start this story with our main character, Linus. The best way to describe Linus and his life is mundane, predictable, bland and simple. Linus is surviving but not living. Until, he is sent to the island of Marsyas to investigate. What he encounters there and what we as the readers encounter there, is LIFE. Unexpected, a little messy catch you off guard but beautiful and pure: life. He is finally awoken from a life that fit him but wasn’t for him. He finds family, acceptance, purpose and LOVE. He can finally see in “color.” In my opinion, not only did HE save this island and those on it, but as importantly, they saved HIM.

If you want to read a story that is heartwarmingly beautiful, that writes about life and how to change your perspective to view it, to heal some of your inner hurts…please read this. Thank you T.J. Klune for writing such a beautiful and inspiring read.
