Battle Ground by Jim Butcher
5.0

After the events of Peace Talks, we knew a battle was coming and it all goes down along the shores of Chicago. Almost the entire novel of Battle Ground takes place during the witching hour as we witness the White Council, White Court, Summer and Winter courts, Marcone with his people, the Knights, the werewolves, River Shoulders the sasquatch, and heck even Bob battle the Fodor, and Ethniu the last Titan.

The battles, draws of power, and alliances were epic. We suffer losses and I wept and cheered. In between destruction we see friendships, enjoy moments of snarky humor, and weep along with our characters. The odds are against them, but this is Harry’s city and he won’t let it fall.

At times the story felt almost like the end, and my stomach churned, but looses ends and some surprising developments left me excited for the next installment. I cannot wait…

The audiobook is around seventeen hours, but it felt like just a few as I became completely engrossed and lost sight of the outside world. James Marsters is brilliant. His voice has become the voice of Harry and these characters from Butters to Mab.

The audiobook has a treat at the end… it’s a Christmas story and exactly what we needed. Thank you, Mr. Butcher. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
