I'm wavering between 4 and 5 stars but I couldn't put it down even though some of it is harsh. I definitely appreciated the historical perspective from a time and place that I had not read about before. I did feel the ending left me with an unfinished feeling but that is probably because it is base on a true story but I will go with 5 stars for the historical fiction perspective and the compelling read.
