This book filled a hole in my heart.
The romance is so breathtaking and real. Two people whose jibes bring them together so naturally, who instinctively understand eachother and crave to know more.
Nora's relationship with her sister is so real and deep, the author doesn't take it half way. You really feel like you ARE Nora and trying to navigate your real family dynamic.
Nora. Her trauma, her reactions to the people around her, who she has become because of what she went through. I don't think I have seen that portrayed more true-to-life or more movingly.
It was so healing to have someone recognize that the romanticized story (falling in love with small town life and staying there forever) isn't what we all want, and in an effort to hype up that way of life, stories have been making every other way seem broken or not enough for decades. Book Lovers rewrote that story.
This book reached all the broken parks of me and told me they were ok to be broken.
I felt like there was no way that the ending could be satisfactory to me but it was. It was so perfect and I cried so freaking much.
