So disappointing after loving Mary Jane so much. The MC is so kind, but also immature and kind of milquetoast, despite her highly improbable name. The roommate is weird - she seems really frivolous; maybe I don’t know enough about junior associates in the 80s, but she doesn’t make sense to me. The mom and stepdad are equally confusing. This reads like YA, but it’s not a coming of age story. It’s kind of boring! Nothing really happens until the end, and it’s nice but …meh. My favorite character was Miss Dani, with her funny little kicks and punches.
