Despite being written in the 1910s and published in the 70s, there's something timeless about Maurice's story. While times HAVE changed, queer people still face oppression and persecution throughout the world. Forster's hopeful attitude during a time of struggle now past is a helpful reminder that queer people have always existed and will continue to exist forevermore, despite adversity.
