We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer
5.0

I ADORED THIS BOOK. Standing on the shoulders of House of Leaves (arguably one of the greatest feats in modern literature), this book is a genre fiction take on existential and epistemological horror of HoL and leans into the psychological dread and sense of nausea created from that discomfort.

The book grips you at break-neck speed and the tension is palpable. Also it’s one of those books that lends itself to googling theories and looking up interpretations.

It’s original in its own right but I recommend to fans of House of Leaves, Annihilation, Dark, The OA, FROM, LOST, Shutter Island etc.

Mandatory reading for horror fans, and even for some non horror fans who enjoy mystery and speculative fiction and psychological stories grounded in character.

Pick it up. You won’t regret it. And message me your theories if you read it!
