Wooooowwww.
When am I going to learn to stop trusting 5 star reads??? This wasn't even close. About 38% I started skimming, just to see what the cause was. The main character, name already forgotten, was borderline toxic positivity in the little I paid attention to in the beginning. Then she started describing her family. More borderline toxic.
I don't have anything against stories with mental health issues, if done well.. This was not. I don't know much about the ones mentioned but something felt way off to me. Especially with the doctor scenes I skimmed through, that she attended. Like, wow, she suddenly knows how to get him to open up better than the doctor? And she was making sure to reinforce that toxic feeling I had by demanding he be fixed now! Just wow.
And with that, I am done talking about this mess. Time to forget this existed.
Would I read again? Hell no.
