This was such a joy to read! It was nearly perfect all throughout, and the literal only reason I didn’t give this a 5 star rating was because the ending was a bit melancholy, and I was expecting this to be the last volume because there are no more out in Japan, but it said “to be continued” at the end of the last chapter. That being said, if this is the last volume, it was wrapped up well enough for it to be, and the ending, though slightly melancholy due to Nomoto feeling down about heteronormativity and queer erasure, was realistic, but still cozy because it concludes with Nomoto and Kasuga devoted to and supporting each other.

This was so wholesome! We got the search Nomoto and Kasuga’s new apartment, including the highs (allyship and support networks) and lows (homophobia), them moving in, an IKEA trip, and domestic bliss. I loved to see how their relationship has progressed, as well as their domesticity now that they live together. I especially loved how their dynamic of cooking and eating now works (
switching and sharing roles!
So cute and healthy!). This made me so happy! I was also happy to see Sena and Yaki hanging out one on one. Sena’s journey also continued, and it definitely resonated with me because I think I feel, on a far lesser degree, similar experiences and her
diagnosis of deipnophobia
allowed me to feel both proud of and more connected to her character. I hope this series does continue, but even if it doesn’t, this has become one of my favorite series of all time, and I already can’t wait to reread it! We love girlhood and visibility, and this has all of it and more. There’s so much depth and variety of the respective topics this goes over, so this series feels like such a safe space.
