The Dream of a Ridiculous Man by Fyodor Dostoevsky
4.0
the dream of a ridiculous man - ghost of christmas yet to come ahh (except its gets worse for the protagonist)
"In the end, these people grew tired of their meaningless labours and suffering appeared on their faces, and these people proclaimed that suffering was beauty, for only in suffering is there thought."
the meek one - he was a boy she was a girl can i make it any more obvious? he was 40 she was 16 what more can i say?
bobok - the funniest one out of the four stories. my personal take on this is that even in death, people will remain filthy and unchanging. the philosopher says that a moral stench is attributed to their corpses. the dead are still able to speak, think and interact with each another. this is supposed to be a "mercy" from God, intended for them to reflect on the sins they've committed during their time alive. however, they choose to remain unshameful of their wrongdoings.
a christmas party and a wedding - pedopedophiliaaa
on a more serious note, this was truly heartbreaking. yulian mastakovich is a piece of shit.
"Get out, get out of here, get out!" he said to the little boy. "Go to the ballroom! Run along to your playmates!"
"No, don't, don't! You get out of here," the girl said, "leave him alone, leave him alone!' she said, almost bursting into tears.
she's just fifteen and she already lost the entirety of her life to a man.
