Wholly Unraveled: A Memoir by Keele Burgin
2.0
I am editing my review, down to two stars from three. Here’s why, in addition to everything I say below: at one point in the story there is a glaring factual error that the author repeats perhaps half a dozen times. It’s a very small point - many readers might even miss it – but it’s a fact that the author absolutely had to know from her own experience. It broke my concentration and it also makes me wonder what else about the narrative might be, to put it kindly, inaccurate?
Here’s my original review: Perhaps I would have liked this book better if I hadn’t read it so soon after another memoir by a young woman about her horrible wretched abusive childhood and toxic family. Or maybe I just don’t want to read memoirs by young women about their horrible wretched abusive childhood and toxic families any more. At any rate, if you want to read one, take note: this has more of a pathetic tone than some, as well as some pretty big holes in the story.
