Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
4.0

Children of Blood and Bone was nothing like I've ever read before! I'll admit it took me a little bit to get into, a lot of the terms I could not keep track of couldn't pronounce. But as soon as the book started to get into the nitty-gritty (sooner than you'd think) I couldn't tear myself away from it. The characters were well built and rounded and it was hard not to dislike anyone. I loved the concept of tribal magic and the wat Adeyemi described magic. It made me want to be a Maji too. My only issue was that there were rules that were broken in the world from a character (I won't say what, that'll give away plot points!) and it was never really explained why. Maybe it will be in the second book, which I'm excited to dive into!! I cannot wait what Tomi Adeyemi brings next, because I have a feeling I'm in for a ride.
