Kinda a wacky book. Magical realism, as I'm finding out, is kind of hit or miss for me, and this one was mostly a miss.
Don't get me wrong, it had some great parts. Some of the writing was truly spectacular, and the concept itself was very fascinating. However, the execution seemed a bit unfinished.
The whole brother storyline was very strange and really overtook the storyline of Rose. Additionally, Rose was one of the most blank, empty characters I've ever read about. In fact, most of the characters were just... soulless.
Three stars because I enjoyed listening to it, but it probably won't stick with me.
