I struggled through this book up until maybe 70%. It’s a very intriguing idea, but I had a hard time getting into it, probably because of the gore and such. I originally was going to give it 3 stars, except that the overall concept pushed it up to 4, and it doesn’t feel fair to me to give it 3. It’s gruesome but repetitive, interesting yet somehow leaves out entire histories. I think so much could have been done with this idea, and it was a little disappointing that it wasn’t, but somehow I’m still stuck on that this needs 4 stars. That ending, though!!! I need to know what happens!!!
