Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture by Roxane Gay

emotional reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

when i started this book, i was sure i knew what i was getting myself into, but i was wrong. the stories forced me to confront my own experiences of sexual assault, and it reminded me that it wasn't my fault. it was as bad as it made me feel. it was traumatizing, and it still is not something i was making up/or somehow my fault. each story covered the experiences of the authors--women, men, and non-binary individuals, which was important as it showed that rape and sexual assault are inflicted on many people of different genders and backgrounds--in a way that was unflinchingly clear and honest. this book is a must-read, if you can handle some of the more graphic descriptions.
