This second volume of the Dark Kingdom Arc continues the story of the Sailor Guardians. Tuxedo Mask's true identity is revealed to Sailor Moon, and Sailor Venus is introduced as an ally. Queen Beryl also reveals herself, as does Kunzite. The moon princess the guardians were searching is revealed and Tuxedo Mask is abducted by Beryl. It is also in this volume that the Greek myths of Selene and Endymion come to the forefront of the story, if only for a moment.

This volume has many of the problems the first volume had. The flow of the story is a little too fast, but the passage of time is more noticeable at certain parts, which did help to balance the pacing a bit. While the art still seemed to be a bit off at first, it was more like how the rest of the series is by the end of the volume.

One thing I will give this volume over the first is: action. There's a lot more action and the stakes are higher. Takeuchi seems to have a descent grasp on how to portray an action scene, and I'm sure it will only get better.

Like I stated in my review for volume one, anyone who has seen either of the anime adaptations won't find much of anything new here, but it was still nice to see the story in its original form.
