A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

5.0

This is inadvertently going to become a praise of Hugh Grant rather than the book itself, but jesus! Hugh Grant! What a performance! It makes you feel bad that he was pigeonholed as a bumbling fop for most of his career - he's a cracking character actor.

A Christmas Carol is one of those things, like Alice in Wonderland, which is absolutely done to death. It can make you cynical about the original - but no, this book is very good. Very, very good.
