The overall idea and premise of Ranka learning to finally see the flaws of those she loves is promising but poorly executed. The world-building and explanation behind the witches, their powers, etc. is not well explained; it just simply is. After reading, I'm still not entirely sure what makes the witches different than the humans besides their colored fingertips and that some of them (i.e. Ranka) have more powers. But then humans such as Galen can also have incredible powers?? Overall, I think the book has an interesting concept, but the themes and story-building weren't executed as well as I would have liked.
