Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

3.0

The Darlington Orchard is not doing well. Leeda, Murphy, and Birdie are there for different reasons. Murphy is there as punishment, Leeda is there because her parents didn't want her going on vacation with her boyfriend Rex, and Birdie is the owner's daughter. All three have different motivations and no real reason to get along, but they find a friendship that works for them.

This was a well-written book. At times I just lost interest. The characters had a decent amount of complexity. Overall I think the most impressive character is Birdie. She realizes her potential by the end of the book and has become the instrument of her own happiness. Leeda and Murphy add a little extra to the story but I was more interested in reading about Birdie and her interactions with Leeda, Murphy, her father, and the workers at the orchard.
