Pushing the Limits

Favourite Quote = “Sometimes when you see the line, you think it’s a good idea to cross it – until you do.”
I have such high hopes for this book because of all the hype it has been receiving. But I was let down and I can’t really point out what I didn’t like about this book, it was just minor things through out the novel that just build up and eventually I rated this book a 3/5 stars as I thought it was just an ‘okay’ read.
There were a lot of things I did like, such as one of the main character, Echo. I liked that she had flaws and was definitely not perfect. I loved hearing about her relationship with her brother that was heart breaking. Then there’s Noah who I liked, but he wasn’t the bad boy type I was hoping to read about, but he was good character with lots of layers to him. The things I didn’t like about him was he used the word ‘baby’ far too much and I think he had a hint of insta-love with Echo, which annoyed me.
Other characters in the book I felt were all made out to be villains and it was only the main characters that were the protagonists. I didn’t like it because it made the side characters one-dimension and that is not good writing.
The plot for me was a bit slow because I had worked out what happened to Echo before being half way through the book and it irritated me that Echo hadn’t worked it out when it was so obvious to me. But for most of the other plots I liked.
Overall I liked this book but there was just something unidentifiable that stopped me from loving it, but I will still probably check out the next book featuring Beth to see if it will be any better!
