Honestly, gorillas scare me. One of the only characters in this book is a gorilla. This doesn't stop Ishmael from being one of the best books I've read in a long time, maybe ever. Some of the terms are dated, but the relevance of what's being said hasn't changed a bit. I'm going to make all my friends read this book.
Moderate: Animal death and Antisemitism
This is a book that focuses on human involvement in killing the earth, but not in a way that's bashing the reader or humans in general for participating in that culture.
There is a Jewish character in the earlier parts of the book who lived through WWII, and his experience isn't detailed explicitly, but there is some mention of his pain being a motivator for his actions.
