Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead
by Olga Tokarczuk
challenging
dark
mysterious
medium-paced
This is one of those books that sneaks up on you. At first, it feels like a quiet, quirky observation set in a remote Polish village, but then it slowly twists itself into something darker that I genuinely wasn't expecting.
I really enjoyed the main character who had some very deep-rooted opinions that put her in direct opposition to people in her village which was was great for the plot. And the ending? Let’s just say the twist was twisty in the best possible way - one of those reveals that makes you go back and reread passages with new eyes.
If you like literary fiction with a side of mystery, moral ambiguity, and a narrator you won’t soon forget, this is a must-read.
