Beautifully Unexpected by Lily Morton

This will be a GIF review because #Reasons

Me... finding out that Lily was giving us book with TWO mature MCs.

Me... staying up WAY TOO LATE to finish this book

Let's start with what I loved:
1. The characters:

Mags, the QC i.e. attorney, is 52, unattached with a revolving door of twinks and very anti-commitment.

Laurie, the artist, is 48 and is house-sitting for his brother who happens to be Mags' neighbor.

2. The Plot:
Two footloose men who don't want to commit, become friends, then friends with benefits.
Mags gets a friend who makes him laugh, doesn't take his shit and surprises him at every turn. #FriendsFirst

But Laurie is hiding something...

3. The Romance:
Gradually, these two men who don't wat to fall for each other, do. The pacing here worked out great for me. We watch them date without actually dating... go on walks, eating together, sightseeing and meeting the family... all as friends but underneath it all, they were dating and just didn't acknowledge it. #Unexpected

4. The Snark:
Which was, for me, on point and so very British!
Needless to say, the banter is strong with this one. #HaFreakingHa

5. Steam-o-meter:
The UST and then the sex scenes... #OnFire
PS I appreciated the fact that their sex life was realistic.

6. Angst-o-meter: Low angst... This basically a Romcom. It has a bit of angst surrounding Laurie's secret bot it get resolved fairly quickly. #LiveLoveLaugh

7. The HEA:
Mags and Laurie are in love and supportive of each other. #NoMatterWhat
