Under the Tuscan Sun: 20th-Anniversary Edition
by Frances Mayes
If you’re thinking of trying this book because you loved the movie, know that they are nothing alike. This is a plotless book. While the writer is incredibly talented, it gets quite boring to read about a wealthy woman and her husband who spontaneously buy a house in Italy and seem to have all the money in the world to flip the house and eat and drink whatever they want constantly. It’s a dreamy life, but the character was difficult to connect with, and the lack of plot left the book made it even harder to get into.
