The Third Plate: Field Notes on the Future of Food
by Dan Barber
I enjoyed the aspects of this book that challenged the ideals of sustainability within the market of food, especially concerning animal cruelty. However, I feel as though his arguments could have been more enlightening considering her is a chef but I felt as though the book was incredibly research-heavy but lacked the luster of someone who is incredibly passionate about food. I also listened to his Foie Gras parable and could tell as though he is a very analytical person and writer which could have been why I felt this way reading his writing. I enjoyed more of the stories of the people who were actually making movements of creating food in a more sustainable way as opposed to the dryer, seemingly circular arguments of research.
