Strictly Business by Carrie Elks is an engaging romance that pairs Ava, a determined woman with dreams of starting a family, and Myles, a driven yet caring man. Both characters are shaped by their upbringing, which leaves them feeling responsible for others, a shared trait that adds depth to their individual journeys. Despite their different backgrounds, their growth felt similar and compelling, making it easy to root for them.
Ava’s journey, particularly her exploration of ways to have a baby, was fascinating and added a unique twist to the story. Her romance with Myles was heartwarming and full of "aww" moments. Their chemistry and the progression of their relationship kept me invested.
However, my main issue was with the timing of the major plot conflict. It unfolded too late in the book, within the last 50 pages, which left little room to resolve it in a satisfying way. Either shrinking the issue or dedicating more time to its exploration could have strengthened the story overall.
That said, this book is still a delightful read for anyone who loves heartfelt romance and strong character development.
