Red Rising by Pierce Brown

A chore to finish.
I’m so disappointed. This book is so hyped up that I had very high expectations for it. In some ways, I loved it and felt invested in the story but in most ways, I had to force myself to keep reading just so I could finish it and move on to my next book.
The story is of a common man named Darrow, working in the mines on the planet Mars. He becomes an undercover rebel in hopes to one day have enough power to overtake the planet.
I think the plot is there but Darrow, the MC, just didn’t do it for me. He is so flat and has almost no personality. Because the book is in his POV and he is so one dimensional, no feelings were provoked in me even during the scenes where it was so obvious the author was trying to do just that.
As much as it bored me to tears, I could still see how people would like it. I honestly think a lot of men I know would love this book though
