Eve Babitz is THAT girl. She bleeds this energy, this lust for life that, as some have previously called it, feels almost hedonistic. This isn’t to say that Babitz sounds naive when she spends pages of her novel basking in the romance of a rainy day or a slice of apple pie, these observations are often cut with her silver-tongued social commentary. However; Babitz delivers the vibes and I’m here for them.
The so called vibes are in part the product to the reverence that Babitz has for her home city of Los Angeles, but they also stem from her captivating narrative voice that seems both witty and, in a weird way, wise. She genuinely seems like she would have been such a fun person to know, or at least, she does a good job of convincing the reader of this—pulling us into her world the way she does. So keen to read more from her.
