War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

5.0

Holy Moly! At least that bucket list book is off my list. So much has been written about this book that I'm not going to add much. A family saga? A historical perspective on Napoleon's ill-fated invasion of Russia? Tolstoy's struggle with understanding free will and the source of man's reasoning for war, embracing love yet killing millions of your fellow man? Probably much more than that. Enjoyable wouldn't be the word I'd attach to this one. However, it did allow me to debate my own sensibilities. What does cause a people to rally behind a leader who is bent on war?
