With all the fuss about Jane Austen's current popularity (anyone read the article on Salon.com a week or two ago), I was propelled to re-read one of my favorites of Austen's. Mansfield Park is not as mooned over as Pride and Prejudice or Emma, but it still ranks as one of the more piercing illustrations of status and marriage politics from the napoleonic era.
