The Cat Who Got Carried Away by Allan Ahlberg, Katharine McEwen

4.0

This would be a great book to use with younger children who are transitioning from reading picture books to novels. The font is large and clear with not too many words on each page making it good for early readers. The story is also fast paced and relatively short which should help to keep younger children engaged. This could be read as a whole class story in year 1 or read individually by children to progress towards reading longer stories. The story line being based around pets and school is going to be relatable for most children.
