This is a crime drama that very effectively deals with our times and the post credit crunch recession.

Dublin detectives are investigating a murder of 2 children and one of their parents as the other parent is in hospital severely injured. The family lived in a housing estate that stopped being developed part way through when the money ran out. The builders left when they knew that they would not get paid for any more work leaving buildings unfinished. A place where no-one would want to stay but negative equity prevents many from moving away. In an estate to which there would have been shops and childcare there ends up being nothing.

It is very much a drama for our times and I dont want to say too much as it might give part of the story away but it is well worth reading. Both the writing and the thriller/crime elements work pretty well but not without a few minor issues that prevent me giving the book 5 stars but it comes highly recommended as a crime drama that has plenty of suspense to keep the pages turning and very much speaks to our times.
