Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Dropping this at 14%. My biggest problem with it is how unemotional it is throughout but especially in terms of the protagonist's relationship with his family. There are so many dynamics at play there, but the author gives us zero emotional response to the relationships and behaviors. This is just one example of the two-dimensional emptiness in this narrative. While the premise is extremely interesting, the execution fails.
