Copra: Round One by Michel Fiffe

5.0

Goddamn. This is comics done right.

At the back of the book, Fiffe has a brief prosr piece explaining his process on this book, and i have to say, its something I really appreciate. That willingness to go all in on the process, to make superhero comics not with a slap-dash attitude, but with a pace that borders on frenetic, a method that allows the strangeness and bombast to show through, not out of weak nostalgia, but rather out of a recognition that that is what the genre requires to truly function properly. The fine line between self-seriousness and preposterous, depressing reality. It's tough to lan successfully, and boy, does Copra nail it. Top notch.
