Restless Beat
by Laura John
Restless Beat is Book 8 in Laura John’s Love in Sienna Series. We finally get to know the real Ace Star, as he evolves before our eyes, following a car accident that leaves him in need of a temporary caregiver. Rayna takes the job, but feels an immediate connection to her new boss, despite knowing about his past reputation as a playboy rockstar. Given both their painful childhoods, can they find a home in each other? One of the central themes of this book seems to be not letting fear prevent you from moving forward and finding the happiness you are meant to have. Also, as with the other books in the series, family is paramount, and not necessarily the family you are born into, but the one you create for yourself. This book had everything I’ve come to expect from Laura’s books and more. The characters are so real, their emotions are raw, and the passion between Ace and Rayna was electric. Lance was another masterful addition, as his friendship with Ace is beautiful, as is the way he was with Rayna from the beginning. I hope he gets an HEA at some point. I enjoyed seeing Ace gradually opening up more, even with the band. I’m a sucker for witty banter and laughter. I knew at some point there was going to be some drama, but holy plot twist Batman!!
