A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn

As someone who isn’t heavily invested in history i think it was a great intro. This book covers from 1492-2003 and has SO MUCH information. I feel like i need to study the book rather than just listen once through. Definitely will be purchasing to teach my son proper history vs textbook history.
There are controversies surrounding the book because of the lack of historical references to the latino community, west coast, as well as others in the LGBTQIA+ but he added that he is a heterosexual from the east coast which could have added to what i believe is his unintentional biased.
I personally think it is still an important book to read and have in your library because of all the information it has. No one person can possibly cover everything in history, do it correctly, respectfully & with understanding to the community which is why i don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
He added book recommendations at the end from latino authors to cover more historical points within our community. He also gives recommendations for the LGBTQIA+ community and admits that he had a bias which i can appreciate.
