The Last Dragon King by Leia Stone
4.0
This was just what I needed! This is a series of four books that are interconnected standalones following each of The Avalier Kings.
Book 1, The Last Dragon King focuses on Arwen and Drea (The Dragon King).
The King needs an heir desperately however his wife died during childbirth, apparently not strong enough to birth a baby with such strong genetics. And so he sends out word that all women of child bearing age will be assessed by magical ✨️sniffers✨️ and if their magic is strong enough, they are to come back to the castle and under go more assessments to see who will be most suitable to wife and successfully birth an heir. This causes quite the stir amongst the towns and almost everyone is hoping they get chosen. Except of course our female main character Arwen, who as a hunter for her family, is needed at home, has no desire to go marry a king and besides she has barely any dragon blood anyway.
Secrets emerge and she gets tied up in the whole fiasco anyway 🤣

I really enjoyed this, it was easy to read and get lost in. I have seen some comments in regards to how shallow the story was and while yes I agree it's not deep, sometimes that is exactly what you need. There's no smut and I would not consider it a dark romance as I've seen mentioned in places (in my opinion). But again, that didn't affect my enjoyment of the story at all.
Go into it with the mindset that it's a light dragon fantasy, and you may just find you'll enjoy it. I myself cannot wait to see what happens in the next books with the rest of the Kings.
Thank you to Harper Collins for sendigme a review copy
