I picked this up because I liked Heist Society and heard a lot about Carter's spy-girls series because of it. While I liked Heist Society a lot more, this was a fun, light story about a group of girls attending a spy school that masquerades as a sort of "finishing school" for rich society girls. Still, I was surprised by how much the storyline focused on investigating a townie boy, rather than something more weighty. Not like national security needs to be the main topic of every spy story, but boys? Maybe I am just too old. Side plots involve a new spoiled-rich student who isn't supposed to know she's attending a spy school; a new (male! gasp!) teacher at the academy and his relationship with Cammie's spy-mommy, the headmaster; and uncovering the truth behind the death of Cammie's spy-daddy (this comes in more at the end).
