2022 update: just as enjoyable the second time around!! Would still recommend.

Can't tell if I enjoyed the past or present story more, because both drove me to stay up reading until 2am. Can’t tell if I've ever learned so much about a city's labor disputes, environmental secrets, and regional development patterns from a murder mystery with a decade-long love triangle. Can’t tell if I like Jay Porter, or want to hit him over the head for missing the clues. Either way: I'm certain I want to keep reading about him.
