Well more 3 1/2 stars because just as I thought we were getting to the meat of the matter, like a teasing butcher's counter the whole business is whipped away and wrapped up too soon. Otherwise this is a thoughtful charming read that made me want to check more of Anne Tyler's novels in the future that are hopefully longer and deeper.
